Teacher Parent Club

Oak Forest Teacher/Parent Club Mission Statement

The Oak Forest Academy Teacher/Parent Club membership includes all parents, legal guardians, faculty, and staff at Oak Forest Academy.

The TPC’s mission is to promote open communication and understanding between parents and staff at Oak Forest Academy. Our efforts serve to enhance and maximize the education of every child while aiding them in achieving their highest potential.

The TPC members assist teachers in the classroom setting, hold fund raisers, support school and family social interaction, and provide a non-biased forum for sharing information on issues that impact our children.

It is our belief that the team effort of a “teacher/parent club” offers the best possible learning environment for our children.

OFA/TPC Needs your help!

OFA/TPC needs your help to continue to be a fantastic, supportive, involved group. We take pride in our school, our teachers, our staff, our principal, our parents, our volunteers and mostly, our children.

You will be pleased to know that OFA is an easy place to get involved. You don’t need to live at the school. The door is open and all are ready to accept any bit of time, expertise, help, or materials that you can give. Sign up to head a major fundraiser or show up one morning to help assist a teacher. Come to every TPC meeting or go on one field trip. Read to a class every week, help with some typing or photocopying once a month, bake some cookies for a bake sale, or run a game at Field Day.

These are just a few examples of how we as parents can take ownership in our children’s education. Get involved in their school! Statistics prove time and time again that children with involved parents get better grades. Our children are happier when we share their school experience. Join your child in an activity that he or she knows there is a need for, like planting a flowerbed or simply maintaining an existing one.

COME TO THE TPC MEETINGS:
The TPC meetings consist of parents, our principal, and a teacher representative that meet the first Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. A variety of topics are discussed each month, such as upcoming events, classroom news or parent concerns, and fund raising. And you could win a cupcake party for your child’s class!

The TPC officers are elected into office in the spring for the following fall. Feel free to contact your officers are any time. The officers consist of President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Their names and contact information are posted on the OFA website.

HELP WITH EVENTS:
Sign up on the attached Volunteer Form if you would like to help out with some of the MANY activities that the TPC engages in and supports throughout the year. There are many times when we could use an extra pair of hands or a smiling face to help make the school activities run smoothly: Picture Day, Book Fair, Fall Carnival, etc.

If you aren’t sure what you can do, sign up for our NEW Volunteer e-mail list. We will send an e-mail whenever someone is in need, and you can simply reply or delete.

YOU WON’T REGRET IT!
Volunteering is such a great opportunity to get to know your child’s teacher and classmates. It will give you a better understanding of the goings-on at school. I strongly urge you to volunteer at least once, anyway that you are able.

Thank you in advance for completing the Volunteer Form. We look forward to working with you. Please return this form to school with your child. Please feel free to call or e-mail with any questions or concerns that you may have about volunteering here at Oak Forest Academy.

TPC FUNDRAISERS

FALL CARNIVAL

The TPC sponsors a fall carnival each year on the OFA campus. The carnival has typically featured games set up in the old gym and inflatables set up either outside or in the new gym. All of these are organized and managed by parents from each grade from PK3-6th.

There is also a cakewalk, our Match-A-Patch game, and games set up for the older kids, ex.: Guitar Hero with a large prize.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES

The TPC offers pre-packages school supplies for parents to purchase at the end of each school year. The supplies are delivered to your child’s classroom are available for you to pick up at orientation. All packs include all items except backpacks, change of clothes if required, and money for Weekly Readers.

COMMUNITY COFFEE LABELS

The TPC collects Community Coffee labels from our families and friends. These are then redeemed for cash. This is a simple way for us to make money, as these are things people purchase anyway.
